The Big Tuesday String-A-Long

So I had an idea a few months ago and things about to get very real up in here… I wanted to use the four Tuesdays in June I had booked at the Gasometer in Collingwood, Melbourne for something other than just a standard gig. I’m very rarely in Melbourne for a whole month at a time these days and the thought of spending that entire increasingly chilly, cosy month hometown got me thinking about how much the city, and its myriad of creative and talented inhabitants, has taught me and molded my career thus far. So I thought to myself, ‘why don’t I interview four of these people? Pick their brains about their own careers, how they’ve continued to sustain themselves spiritually and financially throughout their long and varied lives in music?…’

I had a wish list. Four of my idols. Who also happen to be four of my friends and collaborators. And I asked all of them. And they all said YES!!! So that’s what’s happening for the month of June, folks. Every tuesday night. There’s tickets to each show and a special season pass ticket (to all four shows at a discounted price) available from The Gasometer Hotel Gig page. And from my shows page on this website.

Tuesday 6th June – Dr Lou Bennett: Former member of the internationally acclaimed and adored trio Tiddas, highly respected songwriter and solo artist, co-founder/artistic director/co-CEO of the Black Arm Band (2006-2014), current McKenzie Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne.

Tuesday 13th June – Deborah Conway: Platinum selling songwriter and recording artist, festival director, producer, trailblazer and Rolling Stone living legend.

Tuesday 20th June – Neil Murray: Co-founding member of the seminal Warumpi Band, internationally celebrated songwriter and performer, published novelist and the 2017 Port Fairy Folk Festival Artist Of The Year.

Tuesday 27th June – Mick Thomas: Founding member and song-master of the legendary Weddings Parties Anything, raconteur, troubadour, artistic director, innovator, Australian songwriting luminary and, most recently, author.
