New album due out April 2010

I'm excited to announce that I'll be releasing a solo album in April 2010. The band and I plan to record another album in Winter, but the April release is a collection of songs that were better suited to a more intimate, solo feel. I spent a few days recording the album in Yarraville in August 2009, with Simon Bailey (engineer for my last album "Pendulum") behind the desk. I'm very pleased to be able to share these songs/recordings with you in a few months.

Happy new year. I wish everyone a happy and safe 2010.

Digger's Tavern CANCELLED but a new gig to wrap up tour...

Unfortunately, our gig at Digger's Tavern in Bellingen has been cancelled. We're disappointed not to be playing the show. Luckily, though, we've secured another gig on the 10th of October at the Burringbah Sports Club, so we'll be wrapping up our NSW mini tour there instead.

We can't wait to get out on the road again!

Mini NSW Tour

Liz and the band are packing the car and driving up to NSW for a tour. Beginning at the Junkyard in Maitland on thursday the 1st of October, they'll be playing at Bellingen Global Carnival and then scooting up to Lennox Head to play at the Lennox Pub before heading back to Bellingen to play at Digger's Tavern to wrap up the tour.

Check the gig guide for all details.

Message from Liz

I have plans for two new recordings this year. I'm just about to start on the first project.

In the meantime we've got some good local (VIC) gigs coming up. The OLD HEPBURN HOTEL on Friday July 31st and the TOFF IN TOWN (Melbourne!) on Saturday the 1st of August. Sally Dastey (Tiddas) will be supporting at the Toff. It'll a good chance to see a lot of this new material that we'll eventually be recording.

We're also delighted to announce our show at the DARWIN FESTIVAL this August too. My new favourite part of the world. And later in the year we'll be playing at BELLINGEN GLOBAL CARNIVAL and playing some other shows up in that part of the world as well.

And there's other news coming too. Stay tuned. Cheeeeeers.

Letter from Liz

Sunshine Coast, QLD

G'day. I'm up here playing supports for Eric Bibb. He's pretty amazing.

And it's a great run of shows to come onto after finishing up the Mia Dyson tour, playing in her band. My band and I will be playing again soon in Victoria, doing a few shows. Can't wait to play with them again and show you all some new stuff I've been working on while I've been on the road.

* APRIL 4, The Palais in Hepburn Springs
* APRIL 5, Westernport Hotel, San Remo
* APRIL 17, Thornbury Theatre, Thornbury

I'm also continuing the ERIC BIBB supports and playing APOLLO BAY MUSIC FESTIVAL too.

All the details are in the Gigs pages. And the footy season starts soon too. Sweeeet.

New Year, New News

2009 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the Liz Stringer camp.

Liz spent the first month of the year at the Woodford Folk Festival playing with The Leah Flanagan Band from Darwin and being invited to get up and play some tunes with roots legend Jeff Lang. She then stepped off the plane and straight into a cracking first gig of the year with her band to delighted punters packed into the Northcote Social Club, unveiling some brand new songs scattered among favourites from her first two albums.

Liz has also provided supports at the Corner in Melbourne and Meeniyan Hall in Gippsland for Joe Henry (US), a folk/soul/jazz/alt-country music legend who has worked with a phenomenal list of music industry heavyweights including: Ornette Coleman, Elvis Costello, Mavis Staples, Teddy Thompson, Solomon Burke, Loudon Wainwright III and Ani DeiFranco. Next time you see Liz, ask her what Roy Orbison told Joe about Coke...

The big news of the next few weeks is that Liz has been invited to tour with Mia Dyson again - this time as part of her band! Mia's heading off on one last Australian Tour ("Through This Town") before she leaves these shores bound for the States later in the year.

Liz will be playing guitars, blues harp and singing backing vocals for thirteen dates down the east coast beginning at the end of February (see the Gigs section for details).

In late March, Liz will be back in Victoria to play the Apollo Bay Festival with her band before hitting the road for some shows of her own around the country.

Stay tuned for more touring details and more news as the year rolls on.

Letter from Liz

Perth, WA

It's been a big couple of months of touring. Adam and I are in Western Australia to do a couple of weeks of gigs and then heading home via Adelaide. We're having a great time on the road, despite all of us at some stage getting nasty flu and having to take it easy between gigs for a while etc.

But all in all the shows have been really good. I'm enjoying playing with a bigger line up (Tim Keegan on Bass and occasionally Jordie Lane on lead guitar) although we're still just playing as a duo for some of the legs of the tour.

So thanks very much to everyone who's come to a gig and supported us during the album tour. We're looking forward to the last couple of weeks of gigs.

And of course... GO HAWKS!!!

Sydney and Katoomba shows

Liz and Adam are about to hit the road again on thursday to drive up to NSW and play some more launch shows. They're playing at the Clarendon Guest House on Friday the 19th and the Vanguard in Newtown, Sydney on sunday the 21st. These are their first headline gigs up there and they're stoked to finally be playing them.

Jordie Lane will be playing an opening set on the Friday and NSW locals Jeremy Edwards and the Dust Radio Trio will be starting the show at the Vanguard on Sunday. Its gonna be fun.

All the details for tickets etc are in the gig section...

Letter From Liz

Kununnura, The Kimberley, WA

G'day.

This is a letter to let you all know what's going on for the next few months. My wrist is completely healed, I've played four gigs in a row up here in Darwin and now the Kimberley WA and the arm is strong and getting back into the swing of things.

Finally it's time to release my second album "Pendulum", recorded last winter at Thirty Mill Studios in Brunswick. The album was produced by the incredible Matt Walker and features performances by guest artists, some of my favourite musicians: Tim Keegan, Jordie Lane, Michael Hubbard, Lou Bennett, Jen Anderson, Jaimi Faulkner, Dan Sultan and Matt Walker. (And of course my right hand man Adam).

So it's time to hit the road. We're playing this two weeks of shows in the Kimberley, making our way to Broome and then we return and launch the album in GEELONG, TORQUAY and MELBOURNE (Toff in Town).

Then I go off to do the BROAD tour with Deborah Conway and three other fantastic female musicians; Laura Jean, Elena Stone and Dianna Corcoran.

After the Broad tour we hit the road again and will be travelling around the country continuing the tour to promote the new album and get amongst it all again. We can't wait.

Thanks to everyone for their words of support during the 'time of the broken wrist' and for supporting us in general so far. We are really excited to get back on the road and bring you some new tunes and a whole new energy.

That is, if I ever leave the Kimberley again... Its gonna be hard to leave here!!

For all dates and information about tickets etc go to the gigs page, which will take you straight to my myspace. All the details are there.

Cheers to all,

Liz xx
