My name is Liz Stringer. I’m an award-winning Australian songwriter and musician originally from Melbourne, now living in London. I have almost twenty years of experience working in every facet of self-management while maintaining a dedicated artistic practice which has spawned seven full-length original albums and countless recordings with side-projects and collaborators, many released completely independently. I’ve also toured extensively in Australia and overseas as a both a solo artist and session musician, including two years as a backing singer and occasional instrumentalist for seminal Australian rock’n’roll band Midnight Oil.

I have a reputation for being a captivating songwriter, able to connect deeply with listeners and I’ve carved out a strong and incredibly dedicated fanbase over the years I’ve been touring and releasing records, all without mainstream industry support. I am highly respected among my peers in the industry for my artistic integrity, talent, and clear sense of autonomy and individuality as an artist and performer.

I believe strongly in supporting other artists, particularly those in a different place in their creative and/or professional journey, to navigate their own path and hone their creative craft.

Over my career I’ve had the joy of working in various mentor and teaching roles including for The Push Victoria, Brimbank City Council, APRA/AMCOS, The AIR (Australian Independent Record Label Association) Women in Music Mentoring Program, Northern Support Services, Aardvark and Yarra Youth Services as well as tutoring several long-term private guitar and songwriting students. These experiences have augmented my countless roles as a songwriting workshop facilitator in almost every state and territory in Australia, working with a diverse range people of varying ages. My specific role as a mentor and advisor has varied in content from self-management advice to support around the creative process and practice.

As a consultant, I am offering hourly sessions (either one-off or ongoing) to provide advice and guidance around the various aspects of being a working musician, including in the following areas:

-              The creative practice and finding an artist’s individual and unique creative voice

-              Touring logistics and live performance

-              How to put together a team which most suitably meets your current needs

-              Finding a producer and developing a recording plan

-              Developing long-term goals as an artist and songwriter

-              Putting a band together and working as an effective band leader

TESTIMONIALS

I would highly recommend a consult with Liz Stringer. Her CV speaks for itself but she is an amazing singer songwriter with years of experience in recording, writing, gigging and touring. I was lucky enough to have a session with Liz. I talked through my career plans and Liz gave me practical advice to get to where I want to be. Not only was she generous in sharing her knowledge and advice, she also introduced me to some contacts in Nashville. I came away from our conversation feeling inspired and ready to take the next steps in my music career.
